NCAA Season 89 festivities begin with kickoff party for athletes
Festivities for NCAA Season 89 began with a kickoff party for athletes on Saturday at the College of Saint Benilde campus in Manila.
With the theme “Our Stars Will Shine in 89,” this year’s season will be hosted by Saint Benilde for the second time. The school was last host of the league 2006.
“May we work together like stars forming a constellation to guide our athletes,” Saint Benilde president Bro. Dennis Magbanua said.
Athletes from participating schools — namely Arellano University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Jose Rizal University, Lyceum University, Mapua Institute of Technology, San Beda College, San Sebastian College, University of Perpetual Help, and host Saint Benilde — participated in a parade inside the Saint Benilde campus before heading to the college auditorium for a mass.
The Saint Benilde Pep Squad graced the event and performed before the athletes.
The 89th season of the NCAA will open on June 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena featuring a match between defending champion San Beda and host Saint Benilde with live broadcast over AksyonTV.
AksyonTV, TV5′s news and sports-related channel, will air the games on Channel 41 in Metro Manila and Channel 29 in Cebu and Davao on free television, Channel 59 on SKY Cable, and Channel 1 on Cignal Digital TV.
