Games Today (The Arena, San Juan)
4 p.m. – EAC vs San Beda
6 p.m. – San Sebastian vs Perpetual
University of Perpetual Help tries to catch up with league leader Letran while defending champion San Beda eyes its first back-to-back win when they collide with separate foes today in the NCAA Season 89 at The Arena in San Juan.
The Altas (2-0) are determined to keep their record unblemished in their 6 p.m. encounter with the San Sebastian Stags (1-2), while the Lions aim to improve their 2-1 mark in their 4 p.m. tussle with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals (1-2).
Perpetual Help coach Aric del Rosario is hoping his players will put on the same amount of energy and sharpness which they displayed in winning their first two games against EAC (69-49) and Jose Rizal University (78-70).
To extend their winning run, Del Rosario must motivate and inspire Nosa Omorogbe, Harold Arboleda and rookie Juneric Baloria to give their best again.
Omorogbe is turning out to be the most consistent scorer for the Las Piñas-based squad as he averaged 17 points per game. Arboleda is next with 11.5 points, 13 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game followed by Baloria who exploded for 25 points against JRU last week.
Though San Sebastian is still smarting from a 104-99 double overtime loss to Mapua, the Altas can’t take the Stags lightly.
Ready to put the Stags back on the winning track is rookie guard CJay Perez who finally lived up to his preseason hype by posting 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in their game against the Cardinals.
San Beda, meantime, proved that its stunning 70-66 loss to Lyceum was already a thing of the past by whipping Arellano, 67-54, last Thursday.
But the Lions have to maintain their high level of game if they want to beat the Generals who are coming off an inspiring 73-72 win over College of St. Benilde.
